Overview

B.Sc in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) is an undergraduate program from Jain (Deemed-to-be) University. Operation Theatre Technology is demanding and emergent needs of experts in the fields of Operation Theatre Management, medical ethics, Anaesthesia Technology, post-operation care. The Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technologist are responsible for direct and indirect patient care, equipment set up and operation procedures. They need to be trained to assist the surgeons during the procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other functions as assigned. A modern Operation Theatre is a profusion of various state of the art machines & equipment. The structure, preparation and handling of this equipment then becomes a vital part of the functioning. Qualified technicians are thus in high demand in this line of specialization. Operation theatre technology is meant to train the student in all the procedures in the operation theatre.

Program Outcome

  • Determine the ability to assist the preparation and maintenance of Operation Theater.
  • Determine the ability to assist in maintaining equipment support in an acute care environment.
  • To assist in recognising and change to maintain a sterile field.
  • Assisting for following infection control policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to manage and maintain theatre equipment.
  • To assist to prepare the patient for operative procedures.
  • Assisting in providing intra-operative equipment and technical support.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge to assist anaesthetist in handling emergencies outside of OT Room.
  • Manage hazardous waste and follow biomedical waste disposal protocols.
  • Ensure availability of medical and diagnostic supplies for Operation.
  • Assist, support and learn to monitor and assure quality.

Elligibility Creteria

50% 10+2 from PUC/ICSE/CBS / A Level/ US 12th Grade or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and pass in English/ IB 30 Credits
